ORAMI
ORAMI, short for Orientalisch Macedonische Cigarettenfabrik, was founded in 1917 by Wolf David Berger in Dresden, Germany.
Between 1890 and 1940 Dresden was the cigarette manufacturing capitol of Germany; home to around 40 factories and accounting for the majority of cigarette production in Germany.
The background photograph on this website is the landmark Yenidze tobacco factory in the center of Dresden, where Berger worked before establishing his own cigarette factory, ORAMI, close by at Schandauer Strasse 34.
ORAMI quickly became one of Germany's most successful independent cigarette makers, combining unparalleled quality with outstanding value. Much of Berger's success came from what he had learned in America about marketing, and what he learned while working at the Yenidze about blending Macedonean tabacco to make fine cigarettes.
